Laser shrinking of enlarged pores (CPL)
The pores on our skin are nothing more than the mouths of the sebaceous glands that allow the skin to shed sebum and moisture. They are found on everyone’s skin and can vary in size, shape and depth. They are most abundant in areas of the body where sebum secretion is higher. These areas include the cheeks, chin, nose, forehead and sometimes the back and shoulders. In these areas, they also tend to expand, which is due to the large amounts of sebum excreted, which simply stretches the pores.
The main cause of this problem is skin type, namely enlarged pores most frequently affect people whose skin type is described as oily or combination. Another source of this condition is inadequate skin care, i.e. using the wrong cosmetics or excessive amounts of cosmetics, which leads to clogging of the pores and, consequently, their distension. Also, overexposure of the skin to sunlight can be a substrate for this type of imperfection, as it accelerates the skin’s ageing process, the skin loses water, collagen and elastin and becomes loose and stretched, making the pores larger and more visible.
cause the sebaceous glands to shrink and consequently reduce the amount of sebum secreted, which prevents the skin pores from stretching again.
Dilated skin pores are only the beginning of the problems, as they can consequently cause impurities, exfoliated skin and excess sebum produced by the sebaceous glands to build up. These substances produce blackheads, which block the mouth of the pores. The problem of enlarged pores mainly accompanies oily and combination skin, but we can fight it with the help of calibrated pulsed light technology – CPL. The appropriate wavelength of the light beam acts on chromophores in the skin, shrinking the dilated pores. In addition, the longer wavelength wavelengths warm up the water in the dermis and cause the sebaceous glands to shrink, resulting in a reduction in sebum secretion, which prevents the skin pores from stretching again.
For the elimination of enlarged pores, treatments are performed using the calibrated CPL pulsed light technology from the Xlase Plus body.
(Nd-YAG laser), which heats the skin and causes it to shrink and stimulate the production of new collagen. The result is a smoothing of the skin and getting rid of unsightly enlarged pores on the face.
Immediately before the treatment, the patient’s skin is thoroughly cleansed and degreased. A special protective gel is then applied and protective goggles are worn. Through ‘shots’, laser light is introduced under the skin, which leads to a thermal shrinking of the pores.
The procedure takes about 20 minutes and is very comfortable to feel. Immediately after the treatment, make-up can be applied and you can return to your daily activities.
Number of recommended treatments: 4 treatments at 6 week intervals.

Each skin reacts individually to the laser. Immediately after the treatment there may be erythema, slight swelling, itching, burning; very rarely local discolouration or discolouration. These changes subside spontaneously within the first few days or even within a few hours after the treatment.
After the laser treatment, the patient should take care not to irritate the treated area. For the next few days, he or she must not use soap or cosmetics containing alcohol. He should not undergo any exfoliating treatments, including peels. It is advisable for him to abstain from sunbathing for one month, from saunas and hot baths for two weeks and from exercise for one week. After treatment, the skin should be moisturised several times a day and photoprotection should be applied.
